Vitamin C

Vitamin C (or ascorbic acid) is a water-soluble vitamin that performs a wide range of important functions:

  • has a high antioxidant capacity, thanks to the ability to neutralize oxygen free radicals and regenerate other antioxidants such as Vitamin E;
  • participates in numerous enzymatic reactions, including those that lead to the synthesis of norepinephrine, carnitine (necessary for the correct metabolism of fats), cholesterol, amino acids and proteins (eg collagen)
    increases intestinal absorption of iron;
  • it contributes to the production of neurotransmitters, the chemicals that allow neurons in the brain to communicate with each other and allow us to focus and remember information.
  • it also helps in the production of serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine, three neurotransmitters responsible for good mood.

Furthermore, some researchers studied the effects of Vitamin C supplementation in models of intestinal dysbiosis and poor antioxidant activity and noted that the amount of oxygen in the tissue and the relationship between pathogenic and beneficial bacteria improved.

These positive effects were also accompanied by a reconstitution of the intestinal barrier function and even by a reduction in systemic inflammation.

Vitamin C, therefore, attenuates oxidative and immunological stress, improves the response of blood vessels and modulates immune cells.

Vitamin C, in the form of Ascorbic Acid and Ascorbyl palmitate, is contained in the supplement HERICIUM COMPLEX PLUS
