Magnesium

Magnesium

Magnesium is a very important mineral for our body, it is the eighth element in order of abundance on our Earth, essential for the production of energy and necessary for the assimilation of phosphorus, calcium and potassium.

In an adult person, Magnesium is generally present with an amount that varies between 20 and 28 grams, 50-60% of which is concentrated in the bones, 39% in soft tissues and only 1% in the blood.

It intervenes in over 300 cellular reactions, acting as a cofactor of over 300 enzymes that control very different processes, from the synthesis of proteins to the functioning of the muscles and nerves, up to the control of blood sugar and blood pressure.

Its field of action is therefore very vast and is fundamental for the synthesis of DNA, RNA and glutathione, an important antioxidant.

It is an excellent purifying remedy, because it promotes the elimination of waste, and an aid to alleviate the symptoms of pre-menstrual syndrome.

A deficiency of Magnesium can occur in conditions of stress, tiredness, lowered mood.

In these cases there may be difficulty concentrating, insomnia, weakness or gastrointestinal disturbances.

This element also performs a relaxing and calming action (reducing the excitability of the nerves and muscles), it is effective for relieving cramps and relaxing tensions, for example in case of headache and against nervousness, irritable bowel, tachycardia and stomach pains.
