Melatonin

Melatonin is a very important hormone since it regulates the circadian rhythm of the organism.

Its secretion is regulated by light: when the light stimulus reaches the retina a signal is transmitted to the epiphysis where its secretion is inhibited.

Darkness, on the contrary, stimulates its release. Melatonin plays a crucial role in regulating the sleep-wake cycle and is therefore essential for the physiology of sleep.

By binding to its specific receptor, the hormone helps the body, reducing the time required to sleep and thus contributing to the physiological circadian rhythm.

The benefits of melatonin therefore concern the sphere of relaxation and sleep, helping, in general, during the advancing of age (when the endogenous production of the hormone is reduced) and in particular in cases of stressful and worrying situations that may interfere with physiological falling asleep.

In addition, it has been confirmed its beneficial effect on the relief of the effects of jet lag, helping to get to sleep also as a result of sleep-wake cycle changes caused by long trips.

Melatonin is present in the MELATONIGHT PRO supplement.
