Choline

Choline, or Vitamin J, is an organic substance classified as an essential nutrient, a constituent of the phospholipids that make up the cell membrane and of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.

It is partially synthesized by the body (thanks to the presence of cobalamin and folic acid) and therefore, its contribution should be guaranteed especially through food.

It has antioxidant, neuroprotective and cardioprotective activities

Other properties:

  • It gives fluidity to cell membranes, acting as a precursor of a very important membrane phospholipid, Phosphatidylcholine;
  • it contributes, together with Betaine, to the maintenance of normal cardiovascular function, antagonizing the deleterious effects of homocysteine;
  • it preserves normal nervous function;
  • it plays a valuable role in liver pathologies, cognitive and perceptive disorders, dyskinesias, atherosclerosis.

Choline is contained in ELIKRILL food supplements (https://www.elisirlife.it/en/integratori/omega-3/integratore-alimentare-elikrill-30-perle.html)
