EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid)

Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) is a polyunsaturated fatty acid belonging to the Omega-3 family.

It is important for maintaining good cardiovascular health.

Its main role of EPA is anti-inflammatory: the cascade of enzymatic reactions to which it is subjected in particular circumstances, in fact, leads to the production of signal molecules that counter the pro-inflammatory activity of other similar molecules, originating from the so-called inflammatory cascade of arachidonic acid.

EPA is also suggested in the treatment of depression, schizophrenia, mood disorders and attention deficit / hyperactivity syndrome, psoriasis, type 2 diabetes, cystic fibrosis, symptoms of menopause, asthma and lung diseases.

EPA is often associated with DHA, an invincible pair of defenders of the cardiovascular system and very useful in the management of different inflammatory and pro-oxidant states, in the reduction of triglyceride levels, in promoting the well-being of the arteries and the improvement of some oxidative stress parameters.

The EPA is contained in the food supplement ELIKRILL (https://www.elisirlife.it/en/integratori/integratore-alimentare-elikrill-30-perle.html)
