Alfa Lipoic Acid

Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA) is a fatty acid with a powerful antioxidant action that helps fight oxidative stress caused by free radicals responsible for aging and cell damage.

It is a molecule that promotes the protection of the nervous system and helps combat diabetic neuropathy.

Among the unique peculiarities of alpha-lipoic acid, there is to act both within the cell, in an aqueous environment (hydrophilic) as the cytoplasm of cells, both in an environment rich in lipids (lipophilic) as is the membrane of neurons and cells, whose integrity is fundamental for the transmission of nerve impulses.

It, in fact, intervenes and promotes important metabolic cycles such as the production of energy in the mitochondria.

Let’s see the other properties:

  • It can regenerate natural water-soluble antioxidants (such as vitamin C and glutathione) and also fat-soluble antioxidants (such as vitamin E and coenzyme Q), amplifying their effects.
  • It increases insulin sensitivity (even in women with polycystic ovary syndrome) promoting glucose absorption and better blood sugar control.
  • It also promotes a reduction of triglycerides in the blood.
  • It also protects against the oxidation of cholesterol-LDL (“bad” cholesterol) by acting as a factor in preventing the risk of cardiovascular disease.
  • It promotes a better functioning of sugar metabolism in diabetic and/or obese people.
  • It improves sports performance (optimizing the use of energy), carrying out the action of “scavenger” free radicals produced in the course of high-intensity muscle activity.

Alpha lipoic acid can be found in our natural supplement LIPOTIO STRONG, 48 cps.
