Vitamin E
Vitamin E is part of the group of fat-soluble vitamins and is present in nature in 8 forms, the most important being alpha-tocopherol, known for its antioxidant properties.
Together with Vitamin C it acts against free radicals, responsible for cellular aging processes.
Vitamin E has many properties:
- it is involved in the transmission of signals between cells, in the regulation of gene expression and in some metabolic processes.
- It plays a key role in preventing platelet aggregation and therefore clot formation.
- supports the immune system
- It prevents the onset of cardiovascular diseases because it counteracts the formation of bad cholesterol and consequently of atherosclerotic plaques, the cause of heart attack and stroke.
- It counteracts the onset of diabetes because it improves the sensitivity of cells to the action of insulin, reducing insulin resistance, often the antechamber of diabetes.
- it protects the blood capillaries and has a vasodilating action and therefore prevents the formation of thrombi.
- it is an ally of skin and hair. Vitamin E is deposited in the skin, where it forms a barrier of protection from UV rays and atmospheric pollution, the main culprits of skin aging.
- It helps protect the eyes by playing a key role in preventing the weakening of the eye muscles and strabismus.
