Free radicals and Antioxidant

Words such as “free radicals” and “antioxidants” have for some time entered the collective imagination thanks largely to the massive action of the media.

There is no magazine, newspaper, television broadcast on health that has not dealt directly with this delicate issue: a fight between beneficial substances (antioxidants) and harmful substances (free radicals), struggle that in the case of prevalence of the second sees an acceleration of tissue aging and the establishment of cardiovascular and neurovegetative diseases, diabetes, cancer.

In reality things are more complex and the radicals in the tissues perform the function of signal molecules, are intermediates of enzymatic and chemical reactions and are necessary for the proper functioning of the cells when the system is in equilibrium, that is when the homeostasis works.

Otherwise, the term “oxidative stress” is often used to indicate an imbalance towards a greater oxidation of the tissue, which constitutes the risk condition for degenerative processes and may lead to the onset of a pathological situation.

For example, it is well known that many diseases, both genetic and acquired, are associated with changes in the redox state of the cell.

Visit our website and you will find many antioxidant-rich supplements useful in fighting oxidative stress and hyper-producing free radicals.
