Fermented red rice

Fermented red rice

Fermented red rice is the product of the fermentation of rice by the Monascus Purpureus yeast.

Through this fermentation, the yeast brings a group of substances called Monacoline, to which a strong cholesterol-lowering activity is attributed: in particular Monacolin K mimics the chemical structure and pharmacological action of Iovastatin.

The beneficial effects can be obtained with a daily intake of Monacolin K equal to 10 mg. This substance inhibits the key enzyme of cholesterol biosynthesis (in liver cells), in order to normalize the levels of total cholesterol, the levels of LDL cholesterol and those of triglycerides.

Fermented red rice (and therefore Monakolina K) is present in food supplement CHOLESTEROL CARE  (https://www.elisirlife.it/en/integratore-alimentare-cholesterol-care-100-cps.html)
