Sun and Health

Sunlight has a fundamental importance in our state of psychophysical well-being, since it promotes the production of serotonin, substance that causes a pleasant feeling of contentment and that at the same time has a relaxing action because it reduces the concentration in the blood of hormones, such as noradrenaline and adrenaline, responsible for stress.

In addition, exposure to the sun’s rays is of fundamental importance in the treatment of certain skin disorders, such as acne or psoriasis, and stimulates the production of vitamin D, a hormone with multiple properties in various organs and tissues, and whose dietary intake is sometimes insufficient.

But unfortunately the sun also has its downsides.

The sun’s rays can penetrate deep into the skin, with consequences in some even serious cases: erythema, eczema, sunspots, mycosis and other possible complications.

Some tips to better deal with exposure in the warmer months:

  • expose yourself with due caution and moderation, avoiding the hottest hours;
  • always use protective creams and smear the product before exposure, often renewing the application;
  • always rehydrate the skin after exposure with a good aftersun;
  • always cover the head with a hat to defend sensitive areas well, especially the eyes;
  • During exposure often drink water;
  • promote a diet of fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins in particular c, carotene and antioxidants (carrots, tomatoes, strawberries and melons)
  • a useful contribution also gives the use of supplements, based on beta-carotene, plant extracts and vitamins, designed specifically to prepare the approach with the sun in the summer season. These products also help activate the skin’s defenses and limit the damage caused by the sun, both immediate and late.
