Berberine and fatty liver: the new natural frontier for liver well-being.

Berberine and fatty liver: the new natural frontier for liver well-being.

What is fatty liver and why is it so prevalent.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver (NAFLD) is a very common condition today.

It occurs when the liver accumulates too much fat, often due to a high-sugar diet, a sedentary lifestyle and being overweight. It gives no obvious symptoms at first, but over time it can cause:

  • chronic fatigue and digestive difficulties,
  • liver enzyme alteration,
  • and in more severe cases inflammation of the liver (steatohepatitis).

The first cure remains a healthy lifestyle, but nature offers some substances that can help protect the liver and improve metabolism.

🌼 BERBERINE: A NATURAL AID FOR METABOLISM AND LIVER

Berberine is a natural compound extracted from plants such as Berberis aristata. In recent years it has become the subject of numerous scientific studies due to its beneficial effects on:

  • sugar and fat metabolism,
  • insulin sensitivity,
  • cholesterol and triglycerides,
  • liver function.

By acting on a key enzyme called AMPK, berberine “rekindles” cellular metabolism, helping the body burn fat instead of accumulating it in the liver.

WHAT SCIENTIFIC STUDIES SAY

Study 1 – Improvement of liver parameters. A clinical study published in Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine (Yan HM et al., 2015) observed that, after 16 weeks of taking berberine, people with fatty liver showed:

  • reduction of liver enzymes (ALT and AST),
  • improved triglycerides and blood sugar,
  • increased insulin sensitivity.

Results indicating a more efficient and less inflamed liver.

Study 2 – Analysis of over 800 peopleA 2021 meta-analysis published in Frontiers in Pharmacology collected data from 10 clinical trials of berberine in fatty liver. These studies have shown that berberine reduces liver fat, improves blood lipids and has a good safety profile, with only mild gastrointestinal disorders in some cases.

Berberine therefore today represents one of the most promising natural sources for supporting liver and metabolic health. Thanks to its antioxidant and regulatory properties, they can become a valid daily support for those who want to purify themselves, rebalance their metabolism and take care of their well-being in a natural way.

You can find Berberine in our BERBERINE COMPLEX PLUS supplement.
