Serotonin

The “Good mood hormone” serotonin is a neurotransmitter synthesized in the brain and other tissues from the essential amino acid tryptophan.

Our moods also depend on the brain, which are the result of a delicate balance between neurotransmitters and hormones that act on the brain itself.

Serotonin is active in various tissues, including the gastrointestinal tract and the nervous system and helps regulate mood, sleep, empathy, sexuality and appetite.

In general, we can say that it promotes a sense of well-being and that its deficiency is connected with some disorders, including depression and anxiety.

As a precursor of melatonin, serotonin regulates circadian rhythms by synchronizing the sleep-wake cycle with daily endocrine fluctuations.

Finally, serotonin intervenes in the control of appetite and eating behavior, causing an early onset of the sense of satiety, a lower intake of carbohydrates in favor of proteins and a reduction, in general, in the quantity of food ingested.

To naturally increase serotonin levels, Elisir Life has developed the food supplements SEROTONIN PRO and SEROTONIN PROFAST.
